Blueair filter technology combines mechanical and electrostatic filtration to trap
particles, odors and gases:

Mechanical Pre-Filter.
All particles are moved through a sealed ion chamber, where
they collide with negative ions and pick up a very slight electrical charge that minimizes ozone production. A steel housing surrounds the encapsulated ionization chamber so
that any ozone is contained in the chamber. Testing shows that the ozone concentration in Blueair's output is actually lower than in the incoming air. The charged
particles then travel through the electrostatic filtration media. |

Electrostatic Filtration.
The charged particles that exit the ion chamber are attracted
to the positively charged pleats of a nontoxic polypropylene filter. The polypropylene contains millions of ultra-thin fibers that trap the charged particles and remove them
from your indoor air. This technology eliminates bacteria, viruses, mold, and other allergens naturally. The polypropylene filter contains a layer of active carbon
that adsorbs any ozone particles that may escape from the ion chamber in addition to reducing odors and gasses.In addition to the standard polypropylene and carbon
filter, Blueair has designed a special Smokestop polypropylene filter that contains a higher concentration of activated carbon that can be used for the removal of smoke, strong odors,
formaldehyde, and other airborne gases. |
